A good printable starts with the right file and a few considered print settings. Use this checklist before printing several pages.
1. Check the format and licence
Read the product description first. Is the file designed for A4, A5 or another size? Do you need colour or will black and white work? Check whether the licence covers your intended use. The website language may differ from the file language.
2. Download the complete PDF
Save the file to your device and open it in a PDF reader. Print the actual file rather than a screenshot of the product preview. If you received a ZIP file, extract it first.
3. Choose the scale deliberately
Select Actual size or 100% when dimensions must stay exact. Fit to page may shrink the design to fit the printable area. The right choice depends on the template. Use print preview to check for cropped content.
4. Print one test page
Check the paper size, orientation and page range. Print just one page first. Check legibility, margins and writing space. For double-sided printing, also test whether flipping on the long or short edge suits the layout.
5. Match the paper to the activity
Ordinary printer paper often works well for simple planners. Heavier paper may be useful for colouring pages. Always check the paper limits of your printer and suitability for your pens. Not every paper works with wet paint.
